Here's how it works.
- Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) chefs and dietitians plan the menus and get nutritional information from the best possible sources. Our food production information system calculates the nutritional information based on the recipes.
- This information is linked to our point-of-sale system through an automatic daily upload.
- The customer buys their food and the nutritional information is presented on the receipt. Foods are itemized and then totaled for the customer.
- We are currently highlighting items that meet our Smart Choice standards on the receipts. We also feature monthly wellness tips, suggested selling for healthier purchases, and other marketing information.
We implemented Smart Receipts in August 2012. We relaunched and expanded Smart Receipts to all NFS-operated locations at Parnassus (Moffitt Cafe, Moffitt Cafe Express, and 920 Express), Mount Zion (Mount Zion Cafe, The Daily Grind), and Mission Bay (Bay Cafe Express, Shorenstein Family Cafe, and OPB Express) in October 2014.
